St. Peter's Treasurer's Report
November 2010
Through November 30th, excluding non-operating expenses, the income and expenses for the month of November and Year-to-Date were:
November 2010:
Income: $25,088
Expenses: $23,664
Balance: $1,424
YTD 2010:
Income: $393,886 Expenses: $404,327 Balance:($10,441)
In November, while income exceeded expenses by
$1,424. Through October 31, St. Peter's income to
expense balance has continued to slide and the parish is
operating for the year at a deficit of $10,441.
Through the end of November the vast majority of our parishioners had maintained their pledge payments evenly throughout the year. As we approach the end of 2010, I would ask all who can to meet the pledge commitment each made for the year to meet the annual cost to operate our fine parish.
Volunteer Opportunity
At the end of January, Diane Cook, who has served as the parish bookkeeper and overseer of our financial accounting systems for the past 5.5 years, will be leaving us for another opportunity. She has done an excellent job, and was always very accommodating. All of us who have worked with her will miss her friendly, competent and patient manner. One of the more critical aspects of Diane's work was the administration of maintaining the payroll system for the staff. While St. Peter's has only a handful of employees, because of the state and federal reporting requirements, it is absolutely essential that those requirements be kept current.
Without Diane, the Rector and the officers have recommended to the Vestry that St. Peter's utilize an outside payroll service to handle the parish payroll. This will begin with the first payroll in January.
This aside, the writing of the monthly expense checks, the logging in of the weekly income and the maintenance and reconciliation of the various accounts is, in large measure, the balance of the work Diane does for us.
Before the parish goes out to hire a replacement bookkeeper, the Rector and Wardens, want to offer the opportunity for a parishioner with a background in bookkeeping and a knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel computer software programs, the opportunity to volunteer to perform this function as a service to St. Peter's.
If any one is inclined to do so, please contact me, the Rector and/or the Wardens, for more information.
Your continued and timely financial support of the work of St. Peter's Church is truly appreciated.
Respectfully submitted,
Chuck Gasior, Parish Treasurer
